Where Can I Find FedEx Routes for Sale in Florida?
FedEx routes for sale in Florida are listed on business-for-sale marketplaces such as BizBuySell, by specialist route brokers, and on Route Impact's listings page when sellers post there. In select markets, FedEx's Assignee Marketplace can also pass a qualified buyer's contact details to current contractors. Wherever you find one, the listing price matters less than what the routes will earn for you. And a Florida purchase carries one state rule most guides skip: buy more than half of a business's assets without a certificate of compliance from the Department of Revenue, and you can be liable for the seller's unpaid state taxes.
Where are Florida routes listed?
- Business-for-sale marketplaces. Search for FedEx routes and filter to Florida. The figures on these listings are the seller's unless the listing says how they were verified.
- Route brokers. Many sales go through brokers who specialize in FedEx routes and list across several states. Ask which Florida operations they have, and expect an NDA before you see details.
- Route Impact's listings. routeimpact.ai/listings publishes blind listings when sellers post them. Revenue, stops and packages on those listings are read from the seller's FedEx settlement statements, and marked Settlement-verified once 16 weeks or more are on file. Check the page for what's available now.
- FedEx's Assignee Marketplace. FedEx's contracting FAQ says that in certain circumstances and select markets, a qualified prospect can ask FedEx to share their contact details with current service providers, who may then reach out. FedEx is not a party to those discussions.
What should I check on a Florida purchase?
- Get the seller's certificate of compliance before you close. Under Florida statute 213.758, a buyer of more than 50 percent of a business, its assets or its stock of goods is liable for the seller's unpaid tax from running that business. That covers the taxes the Florida Department of Revenue administers, including sales and use tax and reemployment tax, plus interest and penalties on them; corporate income tax is the exception. Reemployment tax is what Florida employers pay on their employees' wages. A FedEx contractor's drivers are its employees, so the seller is an employer. You avoid the liability if the seller gives you a receipt or certificate of compliance from the Department showing every return was filed and paid with no audit notice, and you and the seller have no insiders in common, such as a shared officer, director, controlling owner or close relative. The other way out is a Department audit of the seller that finds nothing owed. The statute also lets you hold back part of the price to cover the seller's tax, paid to the state within 30 days of the sale. Your liability is capped at the greater of the fair market value of what you bought or the price you paid. Put the certificate on the closing checklist.
- Budget for sales tax on the trucks. The Florida Department of Revenue says sales and use tax is due on new or used motor vehicles sold in Florida unless a specific exemption applies. Florida's general state rate is 6%. Most counties add a discretionary sales surtax, set by the county on the title or registration address and charged on only the first $5,000 of each vehicle's price, under Florida statute 212.054. Whether you buy the seller's corporation or its assets changes which trucks are retitled, so settle that with your accountant early.
- Use a for-profit corporation in good standing. FedEx contracts only with for-profit corporations, not LLCs, and its FAQ says they must be registered and in good standing in the states where they are incorporated and do business. A corporation formed in another state needs a certificate of authority before it transacts business in Florida, under Florida statute 607.1501. See how to buy a FedEx Ground route for the rest of FedEx's requirements.
- Know which state taxes apply to you. The Department of Revenue says Florida does not impose a personal income tax, but it does tax corporate income: 5.5% for taxable years beginning on or after January 1, 2022, after a $50,000 exemption. Whether your corporation files depends partly on whether it is a C or an S corporation, so ask your accountant before you model the after-tax cash flow.
- Verify the numbers from settlement statements. Rebuild the revenue from the seller's weekly FedEx settlements, then tie it to the bank and the tax returns. See how to verify a route's financials.
A worked example: tax on the trucks
These are made-up numbers, chosen to show the arithmetic. They are not typical figures for any operation, and the 1% surtax is a placeholder: look up your county's rate.
- Part of the purchase price allocated to six trucks: $180,000, or $30,000 each
- Florida state sales tax at 6%: $10,800
- County surtax at a placeholder 1%, on the first $5,000 of each truck: 6 × $50 = $300
- Total: $11,100
That's cash due on top of the down payment. How the price is allocated between trucks and the rest of the business is a tax question for your accountant, not a number to pick at the closing table.
Common questions
Are there FedEx routes for sale in Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville or Miami?
Listings come and go, and we don't know of a published count by city. Search the marketplaces and brokers above by city, and check routeimpact.ai/listings for what sellers have posted.
What is a certificate of compliance?
A receipt or certificate from the Florida Department of Revenue showing the seller filed its returns and paid the tax on them, with no audit notice. The seller provides it. If you buy the seller's assets, having it in hand at closing means statute 213.758 doesn't make you liable for the seller's unpaid taxes, as long as you and the seller have no insiders in common. Get one dated close to closing. If you buy the seller's corporation instead, its tax debts stay with the corporation you now own.
Can I buy a Florida route with an LLC?
No. FedEx contracts with for-profit corporations and names LLCs among the business types it doesn't contract with.
How much do FedEx routes in Florida cost?
The price is set between the buyer and the seller, and it should rest on cash flow you've verified. We don't know of a published figure for Florida.
Can I get an SBA loan for a Florida route?
Yes, the same SBA 7(a) program applies in every state. See SBA loans for FedEx routes.
What matters more than the listing price?
What the routes will earn for you. That means revenue you've verified from the seller's settlement statements, what labor costs as a share of that revenue, and what the trucks will cost to run and replace. Listings on routeimpact.ai/listings mark which figures were read from the seller's FedEx settlement statements and which came from the seller's own books, and full financials open in an NDA-gated data room. If a seller anywhere sends you a recent statement, Route Impact's free teardown breaks the week into its revenue mix, with no account required.
